About
Once upon a time, there was a little girl whose dreams were so big that they overflowed her. Born in the early nineties in Sao Bernardo do Campo, Brazil, she has always been a studious and embracer of worlds, trying to live each stage of her life in its greatest intensity.
At the age of six, she had her first contact with music in a initiation group at the local library. There, she had activities of interpretation, percussion and choir. From then on, her relationship with music went from appreciation to expression, helping her to live with her emotions in the years to come. At the age of 10, she took her father’s old guitar and risked her first chords on her own. The experience led her to a world of possibilities that once seemed so much more distant. She attended guitar and choir lessons at the age of 13, and took her first lessons in music theory and flute. Moving away from music was no longer an option.
However, in 2010, she began her bachelor of geophysics at the Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics of the University of São Paulo (IAG-USP), which, at first, increasingly distanced her from music due to her academic commitments. But what seemed like an obstacle, also became an opportunity. In 2011, she joined the Choir of the University of São Paulo (CORALUSP) in the Tarde group, conducted by Márcia Hentschel. The experience brought back to life not only her passion for music, but also the pleasure of singing, which made her life lighter and more meaningful. Up until 2018, she also joined other choirs such as Todo Canto and Feminino, conducted by Paula Christina Monteiro, with whom she also had her first piano lessons. In 2014, she began to attend classical singing lessons at the Beethoven Conservatory in São Paulo and, since then, has not stopped improving her studies, going through excellent schools and teachers such as André Matos (lead singer for Viper, Angra and Shaman) and Fundação das Artes de São Caetano do Sul.
Her first experience with studio recordings happened in 2016, when musician Matheus Manente invited her to record voices for an arrangement of Memories, for the album ZODIAC: Final Fantasy Tactics Remixed, originally composed by Hitoshi Sakimoto. Marcela became part of the renowned Materia Collective record label, and she has been recording for numerous albums ever since, having the opportunity to work with renowned musicians from various parts of the world.
In 2017, Marcela was one of the founding members of “Heaven: Choir Metal”, a symphonic metal band, style with which she had a lot of affinity. Later on, she also founded “Materia Brasilis” together with Matheus Manente, Josué Ferreira, Carlos Oliveira and Matheus Souza, a group which creates video game music arrangements inspired by brazilian music. She is currently working on the production and composition of her first EP, and other side projects to be announced in 2020.
Marcela Estelië believes that genuine art represents the bigger picture of the world, being inclusive and democratic, bringing good will to those who create it as well as those who listen to it. She also believes that music is a messenger of emotions once repressed by culture in society, translating the individual thoughts of each one, bringing empathy to human beings and building a better world for all of us.
